Jeep Ride at the Mandalpatti Peak Coorg

Mandalpatti is known for its off-road car rides if you want a less tiring choice. These 4x4 cars, suggested by the Forest Department, provide an exciting ride over rough ground. The bumpy journey through green trees and twisting roads makes going up the hill a more thrilling adventure. A jeep ride would cost around INR 1,700 for one car. It is quite a fun journey with family or even a group of friends. It's worth riding in a jeep even if you are only able to walk halfway.

At the top, tourists enjoy amazing views of the nearby hills and rivers. The Forest Department has built a great viewpoint, which offers good views, especially in the early morning sunrise and late afternoon sunset. The location is fantastic for photography of the foggy hills and colorful sky. The entry fee for watching is INR 25. Birdwatchers and wildlife shooters would love Mandalpatti as this is one of the best places to spot rare birds and the beauty of the Western Ghats.

June and July are the best months for this trip. The weather is pleasant all year, but the scenery is stunning during the rainy season. The rain makes the plants grow more, and the clouds make the sky attractive, making it a must-visit spot included in many Coorg tour packages.

How to Reach Mandalpatti Peak Coorg?

•    By Rail: Mangalore Central Train Station is the main train station in the city. From here, the closest train station is Subrahmanya Road Railway Station.

•    By Road: The hills of Mandalpatti are 211 km away from Mangalore, 284 km away from Bangalore, and 351 km away from Coimbatore. Getting to Mandalpatti Peak from Mangalore and Bangalore will take about 6 hours each. From Coimbatore, it will take 9 hours by car.

•    Take the bus. The Shimoga Bus Terminal is the main bus stop, and it is close to the Mandalpatti Hills. It's easy to get to from other places. To get to where you need to go, you need to take a local bus that stops at Madikeri Bus Stand, Stuart Hill.

Traveler’s Tips for Visiting Mandalpatti Peak Coorg

•    Stay in groups or find other people to trek with if you're going to be walking the whole way.

•    Don't travel as much on the day you plan to hike to the top of Mandalpatti.

•    Wear clothes that are easy to move around in while walking.

•    According to the Mandalpatti Forest Department, you are not allowed to drive your car to the very top.

•    It gets cooler and windier on top of the hill. Because of this, it is best not to bring your babies with you.

•    Go to the “Tours” section on the website and click on it. You can see a drop-down menu where different tour packages will show. Click any one of them according to your wish and then a webpage will be redirected. You can select the “Starting City” and the “Trip Duration” in order to know the price for your trip. You will get a lot of options of tour packages which you may select according to your will. 
•    There will be some more options which you need to answer correctly in order to get the final price of your tour.

No. Someone trying to book a tour package does not need to make full payment. There are three options to make the payment - 30%, 50% or 100%. One can choose any of the above-stated options to book the package.

30% option - Initially customer has to pay 30% for the booking confirmation. Within 24 hours hotel vouchers will be shared. Upon the hotel vouchers receipt, the customer has to release another 20% of the payment. The remaining 50% amount should be released one day prior to your travel date.

50% option - Customer has to pay 50% for the booking confirmation. Within 24 hours hotel vouchers will be shared. The remaining 50% amount should be released one day prior to your travel date.

100% option - Upon 100% of the payment, there is no due from the customer. We will be happy to provide service.  

•    After the payment is successful the customer/client will find an auto-generated invoice. Apart from that,  a confirmation mail and message will be sent to the client’s mail id and number respectively from the assigned tour manager.

•    If a client is booking on behalf of a family member or a friend, then he/she will have to have the basic details about the traveler. Like the starting city of the journey, desired length of the trip, contact details, and some more. It is very easy and convenient to book on behalf of someone.
