Bhagamandala Coorg Overview

Bhagamandala is a religious place located on the beautiful slopes of Talacauvery, just 39 kilometers from Madikeri. Talacauvery is where the River Kaveri begins. It is famous as the 'Dakshin Ganga' or 'Ganga of the South' and is one of the seven holy rivers in India.

Taking a bath in the holy waters of Bhagamandala in Coorg is not just special; it also makes you feel emotionally uplifted and cleanses you, positively affecting your mind, body, and soul.

People call it a mythical river because stories say that the Sujuyoti River runs underground until it reaches the Sangam, where it becomes a lively river. Many people go to this special place to honor their loved ones who have passed away or to remember their ancestors.

They think the holy waters of the Triveni Sangam will bring peace and purity to the spirits of their deceased loved ones. The Skanda Purana states that Bhagamandala was once called Bhaganda Kshetra in old times. They named it after a wise teacher called Sri Bhaganda Maharshi, who lived there in a retreat with his many students.

What is Bhagamandala Coorg famous for?

People popularize Bhagamandala for its religious importance because it has the Bhagandeshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The town is famous for the meeting of three rivers: the Cauvery, the Kanake, and the Sujuyoti. This spot is famous as "Triveni Sangam" and is considered holy.

It is a well-known place to visit in Coorg, drawing people for its religious significance and beautiful scenery.

Which God is in Bhagamandala Temple Coorg?

A well-known temple called Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple stands near the Triveni Sangam. It has holy pictures of Bhagandeshwara (Ishwara), Subramanya, and Ganapati. People also call this place Bhagandeshwara Kshetra, and that's where the name Bhagamandala comes from.

Bhagamandala Temple Coorg History

Sri Bhagananda Maharshi was a devoted follower of Lord Subramanyam and Lord Shiva. He chose to do intense penance to receive their blessings. After years of praying to the Lord every day, his wishes were finally heard. Lord Subramanyam blessed him and showed his presence as a stone. Lord Shiva then created a Shiva Linga there and promised always to be present.

From 1785 to 1790, Bhagamandala was ruled by King Tipu Sultan. After burning and badly damaging the temple, he named it Afesalabad. In 1790, King Dodda Vira Rajendra gained control of the area and made it a separate Kodagu kingdom, returning its original name.

How to reach Bhagamandala Coorg?

Bhagamandala is a village panchayat in the Kodagu district of Karnataka and is easy to reach. It is 63 km from Pondicherry and 133 km southeast of the lively city of Mangalore. The closest railway station is Subrahmanya Road Railway Station, which is 42.4 km away from Bhagamandala. Kodimbala Halt Railway Station is just 46.7 km away. You can explore this spiritual destination with Coorg tour packages.

The Bhagamandala Bus Stop is just a 500-meter walk from the site. The Ballamavaty Bus Stop is only 16 km away, which takes about 20 minutes to reach by car. Buses run to and from these bus stops often throughout the day. You can also easily and affordably take a cab or auto to get there.

How to reach Triveni Sangama in Bhagamandala Coorg?

It takes about 35 km to get from Madikeri to Bhagamandala. It's easy to get to by car from Madikeri, Virajpet, and many other cities and towns in Karnataka and Kerala. Tourists can either drive their cars or take a bus run by the government or a private company. To get there, they can also book a private cab through one of the best car rental companies in Coorg. From Madikeri, tourists can also drive to Talacauvery, which takes about 1.5 hours one way. It takes 8 km to get to Bhagamandala from Talacauvery.

•    Go to the “Tours” section on the website and click on it. You can see a drop-down menu where different tour packages will show. Click any one of them according to your wish and then a webpage will be redirected. You can select the “Starting City” and the “Trip Duration” in order to know the price for your trip. You will get a lot of options of tour packages which you may select according to your will. 
•    There will be some more options which you need to answer correctly in order to get the final price of your tour.

No. Someone trying to book a tour package does not need to make full payment. There are three options to make the payment - 30%, 50% or 100%. One can choose any of the above-stated options to book the package.

30% option - Initially customer has to pay 30% for the booking confirmation. Within 24 hours hotel vouchers will be shared. Upon the hotel vouchers receipt, the customer has to release another 20% of the payment. The remaining 50% amount should be released one day prior to your travel date.

50% option - Customer has to pay 50% for the booking confirmation. Within 24 hours hotel vouchers will be shared. The remaining 50% amount should be released one day prior to your travel date.

100% option - Upon 100% of the payment, there is no due from the customer. We will be happy to provide service.  

•    After the payment is successful the customer/client will find an auto-generated invoice. Apart from that,  a confirmation mail and message will be sent to the client’s mail id and number respectively from the assigned tour manager.

•    If a client is booking on behalf of a family member or a friend, then he/she will have to have the basic details about the traveler. Like the starting city of the journey, desired length of the trip, contact details, and some more. It is very easy and convenient to book on behalf of someone.
