Abbey Falls, also known as Abbi Falls, is a great place to visit in Coorg for wildlife lovers and photographers. History of Abbey Falls Coorg

Abbey Falls, also known as Abbi Falls, was initially named Jessy Falls. The first British minister in Coorg fell in love with the stunning beauty of Abbey Falls when he visited. He named the stream Jessy Falls after his daughter.

After gaining freedom, the government managed the waterfall and the nearby area, which has many plants and animals. Later, Mr. Neravanda B. Nanaiah bought the area with the waterfall from the Government. He changed it from a natural forest into farms with coffee and other spice crops.
Previously hidden in a thick forest, Abbey Falls revealed itself and amazed everyone with its stunning beauty. The waterfall is now on private land, but it is still a well-known spot for people to visit in Coorg all year round. About 9 km from Madikeri, you can see a beautiful mountain stream flowing quickly over a rocky area. The Falls were originally called Jessy Falls, named after the daughter of an English priest.

The path to the falls from the main gate has about 200 steps going down. It takes you through beautiful coffee, cardamom, pepper, and other spice farms. Bathing in the falls is not allowed now, but you can still admire the beauty from a bridge across from the falls.

To get to the bottom of the falls, you need to climb stairs. Having your medical aid with you if you have any breathing problems, is a good idea. Bathing in the waterfall is not allowed for different safety reasons.

On the way to Abbey Falls, you'll see roadside food stalls serving tea, coffee, water, and snacks. However, bringing a water bottle and some snacks is a good idea if you'll be there for a few hours.

How to reach Abbey Falls Coorg?

Abbey Falls is 8 km away from Madikeri and can be reached by road from Madikeri. Visitors need to take the Galibeedu road from Madikeri to get to the spot, and then they will have to walk there. People can either take a cab from one of the best car rental companies in Coorg or drive their car from Madikeri.

Getting to Madikeri from nearby towns can be done in a number of ways. You can take one of the many daily buses from Bangalore, Mysore, or Mangalore if you're going by car. These buses are either private or run by the KSRTC.

If you are taking the train, you can get off at Mysore railway station, which is the closest stop to Abbey Falls. You can take a bus to Madikeri from Mysore or hire a cab to go straight to Abbey Falls. From Madikeri, you can get public transportation to the waterfall.

•    Go to the “Tours” section on the website and click on it. You can see a drop-down menu where different tour packages will show. Click any one of them according to your wish and then a webpage will be redirected. You can select the “Starting City” and the “Trip Duration” in order to know the price for your trip. You will get a lot of options of tour packages which you may select according to your will. 
•    There will be some more options which you need to answer correctly in order to get the final price of your tour.

No. Someone trying to book a tour package does not need to make full payment. There are three options to make the payment - 30%, 50% or 100%. One can choose any of the above-stated options to book the package.

30% option - Initially customer has to pay 30% for the booking confirmation. Within 24 hours hotel vouchers will be shared. Upon the hotel vouchers receipt, the customer has to release another 20% of the payment. The remaining 50% amount should be released one day prior to your travel date.

50% option - Customer has to pay 50% for the booking confirmation. Within 24 hours hotel vouchers will be shared. The remaining 50% amount should be released one day prior to your travel date.

100% option - Upon 100% of the payment, there is no due from the customer. We will be happy to provide service.  

•    After the payment is successful the customer/client will find an auto-generated invoice. Apart from that,  a confirmation mail and message will be sent to the client’s mail id and number respectively from the assigned tour manager.

•    If a client is booking on behalf of a family member or a friend, then he/she will have to have the basic details about the traveler. Like the starting city of the journey, desired length of the trip, contact details, and some more. It is very easy and convenient to book on behalf of someone.
